Contemporary Japan and the Value of Common Thought
The ideological foundation for thinking about modern Japan
When we consider contemporary Japanese society, we are often faced with the question of how ideological values and spiritual foundations should be shared. How can we theoretically allocate the happiness felt by individuals and the value and benefits derived from creative activities to the entire nation? This attempt goes beyond simple economic redistribution; it is also an effort to build a spiritual and cultural community.
We each also feel anxious and confused about how to define our own position and role. Even if we cannot attain special positions like president or crown prince, each of us is irreplaceable and a companion living through the present.
That is why we need to theoretically reconstruct our religious and ideological foundations and explore a "collaborative republican ideology" in which everyone can participate with dignity. Rather than denying the anxiety and sense of misfortune that lies within individuals, perhaps an important issue for Japan today is to use this as a starting point to aim for a society in which we think and support each other together.

現代の日本社会を考えるとき、私たちはしばしば、思想的な価値や精神的な基盤をどのように共有し、分かち合うべきかという問いに直面します。個人が抱く幸福感覚や、創造的な活動から生まれる価値や利益を、どのようにして国民全体のものとして理論的に配分できるのか。その試みは、単なる経済的な再分配を超え、精神的・文化的な共同体を築く営みでもあります。
また、私たちはそれぞれ、自分の立場や役割をどのように設定すべきかという不安や戸惑いを抱えています。大統領や皇太子のような特別な地位には就けないとしても、一人ひとりがかけがえのない存在であり、現在を共に生き抜く仲間であることに変わりはありません。
だからこそ、宗教的・思想的な土台を理論的に構築し直し、誰もが尊厳をもって参加できる「共同的共和思想」を模索することが求められています。個人の内面にある不安や不運の感覚を否定するのではなく、それを出発点として、共に考え、共に支え合う社会を目指すことが、今の日本における重要な課題なのかもしれません。
